Just Food is launching the Ottawa Collective Kitchen Network (OCKN). The goal is to initiate new, and support existing, collective kitchens throughout Ottawa.
If you are looking to start or facilitate a collective kitchen, the Collective Kitchen Facilitator training will include all the information necessary to start one, including different models, setting up the kitchen, recruitment, facilitation, logistics, planning and coordinating on the day, financing, basic food safety and more! It will also include a collective cooking experience together. If you already facilitate a collective kitchen, please read below on how to connect with this network.
A Collective Kitchen is a place where a group of people cook food together, to share together, take home, give or sell, and can be organized by agencies or individual volunteers. People start collective kitchens for many different reasons: to share and learn food skills, to make healthy and affordable food, to use leadership skills, to break isolation and to feel more connected to the community.
When? Tuesday mornings: April 24, May 1, 8, 15 from 9:30am-12:30pm.
Where: All sessions will take place at the Just Food Farm in the Red Barn, at 2391 Pépin Court except for the May 1st session which will be at Rideau Rockcliffe CRC kitchen and will be between 9:30am-1:30pm.
