2018 Start-up Farm Program

Just Food launched its Start-Up Farm Program in 2013 to promote farming and careers in agriculture as viable options. The program offers participants access to land, shared equipment, and training to help support new farmers and to lower the risk as they enter the industry. The Start-Up Farm also offers workshops and meetings on organic certification, crop planting, marketing and sales, irrigation, farm safety and equipment use, post-harvest handling, and business planning—and many more—over the course of the year. There currently are 10 spots available for 2018 with a limited number of bursaries and loans for select participants.  Applicants must have some agricultural experience and are encouraged to have a specific direction to pursue for their farm. If you are ready to get started farming, attend the information session August 9 to see how you can benefit from Just Food’s Start Up Farm Program.
